Yakuza 0 is the best game in an excellent, charmingly quirky series. It has the most dramatic, engaging main storyline in the series. It has the best combat in the series. It has the most memorably silly side quests in the series. And since it’s a prequel, it requires no knowledge of or commitment to the rest of the (often lengthy) Yakuza games. And now it’s coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC.
Yakuza 0 is now “coming soon” to Xbox Game Pass for PC – the announcement suggests it’ll land in February, though no specific date is set. If you already have Game Pass PC, the game’s now free to you, and if you haven’t subscribed before, you can do so for $1. Yes, I’m giving you the hard sell here and no, this isn’t a sponsored post. You just need to play Yakuza.
Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 are also set to join 0 on Game Pass for PC in the future, and together, these three games make up a perfect trilogy of a Yakuza experience. The first Kiwami is a remake of the original PS2 game, updated with new mechanics and some story elements that make it more of a direct sequel to 0. Kiwami 2 (similarly a remake of PS2’s Yakuza 2) will give you a taste of the modern Yakuza engine used in 6 and the spin-off, Judgment.
In short, play Yakuza 0. You owe it to yourself.
There’s plenty of other great stuff coming to Game Pass for PC soon, too. The Theme Hospital spiritual successor, Two Point Hospital, is part of the incoming batch of games, as are Indivisible, Wasteland Remastered, Reigns: Game of Thrones, and Indivisible.

This is normally the part where I’d list some free PC games to check out if you’re looking for deals, but no. Clear your schedule next month. You are going to play Yakuza 0, see what the fuss is about, and become just as much of an insufferable proponent of the series as me and the rest of the weirdos on your social media feed.
