Absention pits you against a single, intelligent creature. It’s hunting you through a lakeside home and the woods surrounding it. Escape won’t be easy, as each night, when the clock strikes a particular hour, time runs backwards, undoing your hard work.
Check out the trailer to see the beautiful horror at work.
Absention’s currently only a concept on Greenlight but the trailer shows that the team at least have the artistic chops to make the game:
According to the YouTube description, you’re “Trapped in a time loop where you must relive the same night. Explore the mysterious lake house and discover it’s dark secrets.”
However, each time the the clock goes back the layout of the house changes. Instead of mapping out the house, you need to remember events and use those to guide your search, as well as learn how to avoid harm.
The force that drives your search is a single enemy who’s hunting you. The trailer gives little about it away but I’m picturing something like Creative Assembly’s alien in Alien: Isolation.
