When will we get Mario Kart on PC? The answer to that eternal question is probably 'never'. But that's fine. Do you know why? Because there are plenty of developers who aren't Nintendo who do want to bring us a decent karting game on out platform of choice.
One of those is 3DClouds.it, who have recently brought All-Star Fruit Racing to Steam Early Access, much to our delight. It's a karting game with the look and feel you'd expect from a family-friendly karting game, but with an extra layer of strategy on top.
That strategic layer is found in the the Juicer - your kart has four tanks, one for each season, that you fill with the seasonal fruit you pick up. Once a tank is full, you can decide to use its power-up straight away, or wait longer to combine it with other tanks - once they're full - for a better power-up.
All-Star Fruit Racing has single-player, split-screen versus for up to four players, and online multiplayer to boot. It also has many different fruity characters to play as and unlock. It's this which has been hotly debated in the PCGamesN office. The topic being: which fruit should be the starting racers? Many of us argue that starting characters should at least include apple, orange, and banana - you know, your typical household fruit bowl.
But All-Star Fruit Racing only has banana out of those, with the others being avocado, coconut, peach, strawberry, cherry, melon, and grape. These are not your usual fruits and it's for this reason that some of us support this show of diversity in the fruit world.
Anyway, fruit arguments aside, we're giving away 50 Steam keys for All-Star Fruit Racing. If you want to win one you'll need to enter the competition via the widget below. Every action you complete is worth one entry into the giveaway, and the more actions you complete the more chance you'll have of winning. We'll also need your email address so we can send you a code upon winning - we won't send you spam, we promise.
