Anthem’s world is multiplayer, your base is single-player

Anthem NPCs

Anthem’s executive team have discussed the challenge of telling a deep story in the classic traditions of BioWare in a ‘live’ multiplayer game – a challenge that leading rival Destiny has routinely struggled with.

At E3 2018, we learned what BioWare’s solution is: the open world will be multiplayer, while your home base will be single-player. That’s where you’ll turn in quests and speak with NPCs, which enables the game’s story to diverge from that of other players, and for BioWare to add story content for many years to come – imagine if you got to return to Mass Effect again and again. The motto is: “our world, my story.”
