Bohemia Interactive today announced that their next slice of DLC for their shooter-sim, ARMA 3, will be due out on April 8th. Dubbed as “Marksmen”, the DLC marks many new updates and improvements to what ARMA 3 does best: shooting guns. Expect new attachments, gear, and well, more guns.
There’s also to be a major platform update, which unlike the Marksmen DLC, will be free to all ARMA 3 owners. It’ll implement a new multiplayer mode, training courses, showcase scenarios, and several weapon features such as improved sounds and handling.
Seven new weapons will lead the frontline of the Marksmen DLC: five marksman rifles, including the Cyrus 9.3 mm, MAR-10 .338, Mk-I EMR 7.62 mm, Mk14 7.62 mm, and ASP-1 Kir. Also inside are two new medium machine guns, the SPMG .338 and Navid 9.3 mm. You’ll be able to try any of the weapons out at the shooting range, or via any of the specially made Marksmen DLC showcase scenarios.
Surprisingly, the biggest update isn’t exclusive to the DLC at all – instead coming in a free platform update. Bohemia Interactive have overhauled many features to do with how shooting feels, tinkering with weapon handling, gun sounds, and even adding suppressor and bipod attachments.
The later of the free update also ties into the next part of it, with the introduction of the weapon resting and deployment systems. Weapon resting will be enabled if the player is able to use the environment to steady their weapon, giving a bonus to accuracy. Weapon deployment on the other hand is a bipod feature that can be activated when laid prone.
The Marksmen DLC will be available April 8th, for £10.99/$15.99, while the free platform update is expected sometime in the near future.
