Did you ever wash up on the shore of a caribbean island, cough seawater from your lungs, and cry ‘I want to be a pirate!’? Come this way then, you scurvy dog, since Ashraf Ismail, Game Director of Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag, is about to explain just how Ubsioft have been working towards creating an authentic, seamless pirate sim.

In an extended version of a commentary-less trailer we’ve already clapped eyes on, Ismail explains how this mission is based on a real pirate adventure where Blackbeard was chased by the British navy. We see Edward Kenway skulking through some lush looking jungle environments, stalking his prey. We’re assured that this time enemies are more deadly, part of an effort to make stealth a more necessary tool in the Assassin’s skillset. You may be a grog-swilling rapscallion in this game, but you’ve still got to remember the assassin rule book every now and again.

Post knifing-someone-in-the-back-and-hiding-the-body-in-the-undergrowth, things get a little more Jerry Bruckheimer as a dockyard explodes and ships blow each other to splinters. There may be a renewed focus on stealth here, but being bombastic is still clearly an option. Your Jack Sparrow dreams are not dead yet.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag will be out on PC sometime after November 1st.
