Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate trailer offers (probably) E3’s only high-speed carriage chase

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate

Update: We’ve now got some gameplay footage of Evie Frye in action with her Cane Sword.

The Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate E3 trailer is not really footage – there’s plenty of that elsewhere already – but a cobble-shaken rattle through the game’s salient features: vehicular chases, grappling hooks, and straight-up grappling.

Ubisoft Quebec are playing up the carriages, as well they might. Assassin’s Creed’s first-ever cars are an endearingly clumsy way to build on Unity’s back-to-basics stealth. They enable what creative director Marc-Alexis Cote calls “the first modern Assassin’s Creed game”, by which I think he means the first to include horse-powered shootouts across Westminster Bridge that end in a big splash.

Think you’ll follow Jacob and Evie Frye into the rough and tumble of gang-ridden Victorian London? There’ll be bar brawls, and walking on top of trains.
