Assetto Corsa races out of Steam Early Access with version 1.0

Assetto Corsa

Kunos Simulazioni has formally sent their very pretty driving simulator, Assetto Corsa, out of the pits stops and into release. It had been in Steam Early Access since November last year, where the developers put out updates to the game on a bi-weekly basis.

“Version 1.0 signifies not just the long-term achievement but also a new start.” said the announcement page. “One journey ends, another begins ; version 1.0 by no means indicates the end Assetto Corsa development, on the contrary, this is now just the beginning of a long journey.”

The racing game is now out on Steam with version 1.0; anyone who was in the Steam Early Access for the title will be able to download the release edition as a free download. The update adds an extended career mode, with a “fully blown championship series”.

This won’t signal the end of development for Kunos Simulazioni however, as they have plenty planned for the future. “The development team is already working on new cars, tracks, features and content that will improve the Assetto Corsa experience even more.” stated the blog. “As a preview of what to expect, take 50 of the most highly anticipated sport cars and five new tracks, all produced and released as official licensed content in 2015, either in DLC packs or as free bonus content.”
