Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition contains 350,000 more words than the original

Work on the Enhanced Edition of Baldur’s Gate 2 is well underway at Beamdog, and president Trent Oster has been telling ShackNews about their progress: “We’re hard at work on BG2:EE and it is going well. Phil (our design lead) mentioned to me there is over 350,000 words of new content”. Considering your average novel has around 80,000 words in it, that’s one heck of a lot of enhancing going on.

All 350,000 words are related to to the story and quest lines present in Shadows of Amn and the expansion, Throne of Bhaal.

Beamdog are also working on some original DLC for their Enhanced Edition of the first Baldur’s Gate game, which they released last year. Oster made clear though that the company’s focus was very much on Shadows of Amn though, with the DLC set on the backburner for now: “DLC-wise, we have plans, but nothing completed, yet.”

Thanks, PC Gamer.
