Battleblock Theater trailer shows PC release was worth waiting a year for

Battleblock Theater The Behemoth

It may have been sat idle on Xbox 360 for the past year but, finally, Battleblock Theater is coming to the PC. The Behemoth’s follow up ot Castle Crashers sees you and a friend race through platformer levels full of lava traps, TNT, and exploding goats.

As well as a PC release – along with the extra lovelies that come with Steam support – Battleblock is set to have a private beta event later this month. At least, that’s what the new trailer tells us.

Let’s begin with that fantabulous trailer:

On 24 March The Behemoth are launching a Steam beta event. There are a limited number of keys so you best sign up over on the developer’s site.

Battleblock was originally published by Microsoft and exclusively released on the 360 almost a year ago, back on 3 April. A similar exclusivity deal kept The Behemoth from releasing Castle Crashers on PC for another tantalisingly long period.

We’re rewarded for our wait, though. “Players can now switch between a primary and secondary weapon in game!,” The Behemoth write in the trailer’s description. “New Cat Guard enemies throughout Story Mode. Steam Workshop integration for sharing user created levels. Steam Inventory integration for trading! (This allows users to trade and sell weapons, prisoners, gems and yarn via Steam.) X input, Direct Input, and Keyboard/Mouse support.”

It’s all fancy stuff and the level creator is a natural fit for Steam Workshop. Hopefully the game will see a healthy pickup despite the delay in releasing it on PC.
