The DLC should be live in all regions and across all platforms – two hours of downtime took place this morning, so now a patch is the only thing standing between you and the Apocalypse.

The patch notes for the DLC haven’t dropped yet, but usually follow the downtime, so expect to see them in a few hours or so. The patch itself isn’t likely to be that big, but the DLC brings some exciting new content. Three of the biggest battles of WWI – the Somme, Caporetto, and Passchendaele – are included, as is Air Assault, an air-combat exclusive mode available across two maps.

Other than that, there’s new weapons (ranged and melee), vehicles, and a new assignment, as well as the three new maps, obviously.

Original story, January 19:DICE have announced that Battlefield 1’s next DLC, Apocalypse, will be available to Premium Pass owners in February. It includes five new brutal multiplayer maps inspired by “iconic, infamous battlefields of World War 1’s final days.”

Battlefield 1’s fourth DLC expansion will let you participate in some of the most brutal battles of the Great War, including Passchendaele’s “nightmarish landscape of blood and mud,” the Austro-Italian face-off in Caporetto, and the “hell on earth” that is the River Somme.

In addition, a new Air Assault game mode has been announced alongside two aerial exclusive maps: London Calling and Razor’s Edge.

The Apocalypse DLC also includes six new guns and melee weapons such as a meat cleaver and pry bar. However, if big explosions are more your thing, there are new gadgets such as the AA Rocket Gun and new aircraft which allows players to pilot two bombers on the Caporetto map: the Hansa Brandenburg GI and the Airco DH10.

A new specialization type has also been announced: Affliction. Specializing in Affliction means you can activate Mortal mode to lose 500 score for each respawn, or activate Paranoia which results in having a gas mask on constantly. New unlocks and assignments are also included in the DLC.

The Battlefield 1 Premium Pass is currently $49.99 (£34.99) from Origin and allows access to the game’s four expansion packs, including Apocalypse.
