Report: Battlefield 4 survey reveals dynamic battlefields which let you flood maps and cut power to bases

Images allegedly taken from an EA customer survey reveal features planned for the upcoming Battlefield 4. It’s difficult to to tell whether this is A) real; B) EA testing the water and not actually talking about features in the game; C) not all a load of baloney.

If it is real then Battlefield 4 will let you flood maps by destroying dams, cut the power to a base by destroying power lines, and Mass Effect 3-style battlepacks are finding their way into multiplayer.

The screengrabs were posted up to imgur and linked to from Reddit. Here’s a quick bullet point list of features gleaned from the images:

  • Migrate your stats and unlocks from Battlefield 3 to Battlefield 4

  • Updates to Battlelog:

    • schedule matches

    • change load-outs

    • track your stats

    • Battlefield news updates

    • access through multiple devices

  • Dynamic battlefields allow you to:

    • Blow the foundations of a dam to flood the level

    • bumping into a vehicle will set off proximity alarms

    • Cut the power to buildings – switching off lighting

  • Focus on water-based combat

    • Attack boats

    • RHIBs

    • Jet skis

  • More maps, vehicles, weapons, classes

  • “In Battlefield 4, you can unlock Battlepacks as a reward for all your hard work in combat. Possible rewards include bonus CP boosts, knives, weapon attachments, and customization options like soldier camos, weapon paints and dog tags will let you play your way and stand out on the battlefield. The more you play the faster you earn them, but with 300 possible Battlepacks feature more than 1200 items, you never know what you’ll unlock.”

  • Potential expansions:

    • Naval warfare – ocean maps, harpoon missiles and coastal batteries

    • Prototype – prototype weapons (both handheld and stationary), outdoor and indoor levels

    • CQC – 10 new melee weapons (including katanas and batons), new stealth kill animations

As I said up top this could all be exceedingly fake. For instance, those potential expansions, I can’t see there being a release focused on melee combat. It’s just not very Battlefield.

Though, stat migration between the two games I can see being an attractive feature, as would be the dynamic battlefields.

We’ll see if we can get confirmation.
