Beat Cop gameplay trailer introduces you to its world via the medium of song

Beat Cop

Beat Cop, a pixel art adventure in the life of a framed police officer, is coming out later this year. To celebrate that fact, 11 Bit Studios have released an all-new gameplay trailer that lays out the story with a song.

If I wasn’t sold on Beat Cop before, this song has certainly pushed me over the edge.

As police officer Jack Kelly, you’ll have to take part in his everyday duties: giving tickets, chasing shoplifters and conducting investigations. It’ll be down to you and your morals whether you’ll take the odd bribe or not.

“Explore its darkest corners and uncover its secrets as Jack Kelly, a former detective who has been framed for a murder. Degraded and forgotten by old pals, it’s your last chance to find the truth behind this whole terrible mess,” explains the official blurb.

“The thing is, your new boss treats you like shit, your wife is a money sucking spawn from hell and the local mafia wants your head on a plate. I guess you could say, that things are complicated down here, in the middle of Brooklyn.

“Oh, and don’t forget about writing tickets, reprimanding pedestrians and such. You’re a beat cop after all.”

Listen, the trailer says it better than I ever could, so just give that a watch, eh?

Beat Copreleases later this year on Steam for $14.99.
