A first look inside Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s bustling capital ship hub

Infinite Warfare

Perhaps Infinity Ward have been playing either Mass Effect or Splinter Cell: Blacklist, as the next Call of Duty will have an interactive hub where you can wind down and soak up the atmosphere between missions.

The hub is a ship in space! There’s more stuff like that in our list of the best space games.

In a new video, the developers show off the UNSA Retribution, the capital ship that acts as the game’s hub. From here you launch missions, side missions, chat to the crew, look at cool stuff and research upgrades throughout the campaign.

It’ll be interesting to see how the introduction of a hub and optional missions works with CoD’s pacing.

As expected, the video narrator spends a lot of time talking about how grounded and gritty and other buzzwords that mean not much at all. It seems like they’re trying their hardest to not alienate series fans who love that Modern Warfare angle, which is understandable.

Personally, I like the new direction. Just look at it:

This follows last night’s reveal that pre-orders of the game would get a reimagined version of theTerminal map from Modern Warfare 2.
