From these investments, the company plans to establish new partnerships and sponsorships, growing the brand.

“We’ve formed a fantastic group of investors to help push Cloud9 to the next level,” said Jack Etienne, co-founder and CEO of Cloud9. “With this investment you can expect Cloud9 to continue our expansion into the eSports market while maintaining an exceptional experience for our players.”

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian said he was “thrilled” to have invested in the company, while Joe Montana, Liquid 2 Ventures co-founder and NFL Hall of Fame quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, said it was a “fantastic organisation”.

Cloud9 is the most popular eSport brand in North America, growing exponentially since its founding in 2013. The organisation has teams who play Dota 2, LoL, CS:GO, Overwatch, COD, and more.

The firm was crowned ‘best eSports team’ at last year’s Game Awards.
