Worried that they’d be unable to pack enough warfare into Company of Heroes 2’s campaign, Relic today announced Theatre of War mode –  a collection of skirmish maps modeled on particular battles from World War 2.

“We get a lot of requests from fans to showcase specific conflicts from the war and it isn’t always possible to fit these into the campaign,” Greg Wilson, Producer of Company of Heroes 2, told our intern Prez Rileese. “Theater of War gives us the opportunity to deliver these new gameplay experiences to our fans.”

Some of the levels will be playable solo and others will require the aid of a friend. If you haven’t a friend you may need to seek help from a stranger. Ask your parents for permission first, though.

When Company of Heroes 2 launches the skirmishes will all be set in 1941. There’ll be 27 in total – nine for each faction. More will be released later, likely as DLC – as it is the style of the time.
