Company of Heros 2 has been released; read our Company of Heroes 2 review to find out our verdict.
While not showing candid in-game footage, the latest trailer for Company of Heroes 2 does show quite how top-notch the engine powering their new strategy game may turn out to be. The video goes from the up close and personal focus on a single soldier to pulling all the way out and showing the full conflict from on high.
When Company of Heroes was released back in 2006 it marked a major shift in the style of strategy games, putting a significant focus on the squads that made up your overall force – it imbued the battlefield with a kind of physicality we hadn’t seen outside of first-person shooters, too. This sequel doesn’t look to be quite the same level of change from the original but it does appear to be almost a distilled version of the goals set out in the first game.
I’ve still not had a chance to sit down with the game but Paul had the opportunity pretty recently. He was a fan.
