ESCW Qualifers results for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive decide North American representatives for 2012 Grand Finals

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

This weekend has been for eSports. Between the Dota Internationals, LoL Regionals and Counter-Strike: GO at PAX, a flurry of futures have been decided, fates denied, and all-expenses-paid trips booked.

The ESCW Qualifiers for Global Offensive concluded at PAX Prime in Seattle yesterday, Area 51’s veteran 1.6 team winning the tournament and the right to represent NA at the 2012 Grand Finals in Paris on November 1st.

The team mustered a 2-0 overall win against former Counter-Strike: Source champions Dynamic, scoring 16-12 on de_train_se, and 16-10 on de_dust2_se.

The second map – Dynamic’s choice – saw Area 51 buckle to an early lead after the pistol round, and a few rounds later Dynamic were still ahead with a score of 7-8. By the final round, however, Area 51’s Josh ‘PineKone’ Springer was able to mount a strong bombsite A defense and the team won their spot in Grand Finals.
