Cryptic Studios opens new Seattle studio to work on Champions Online

The developer behind Champions Online has set up a new studio in Seattle. Publisher Perfect World Entertainment and developer Cryptic Studios have opened the new studio, called Cryptic North, to work on the continued development of their most popular game Champions Online, as well as supporting Star Trek Online and Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter. 

Develop report that this new studio will be led by director Russell Williams, who’s CV contains credits at Microsoft Game Studios and Flying Lab Software.

“We are excited to welcome Russell Williams and the team at Cryptic North to the Perfect World family,” said Perfect World CEO Alan Chen.

“Williams’ experience as a leader and creator of award-winning titles will play a critical role at Cryptic North and help grow Champions Online.”

Williams added: “I look forward to working closely with Perfect World and the talented developers at Cryptic Studios on Champions Online, Star Trek Online, Neverwinter and future projects.

“We’re already hard at work improving Champs.”

Cryptic explained that they had opened Cryptic North to take advantage of the “rich talent pool” in Seattle.
