It’s as silly a story as you might think: to celebrate the release of Destiny 2 there will be special tie-in food products. Yep, Rockstar energy drinks and Pop-Tarts are getting in on the hype. If you buy the Destiny 2-themed cans and Pop-Tarts packages you can get yourself some in-game loot.

Announced today on Business Wire, the limited edition Rockstar cans will be available to buy in this physical realm soon, some time in August. For your purchase, you’ll be able to redeem “in-game gear,” as well as a chance to win one of the daily and weekly prizes, which includes Destiny 2-themed motorcycles. If that doesn’t get you necking energy drinks, I don’t know what will.
The rewards for the cans can be redeemed from September 1 through this website. The cans and rewards are, however, only available in the United States, Canada, the UK, and Germany. Sorry to any Guardians elsewhere in the world.
On the Pop-Tart front, you can get free XP boosts for purchasing collectible Destiny 2-themed packs when they hit stores in September. There will be three variations of the packs to represent the Hunter, Titan, and Warlock classes in Destiny 2, so I guess you can represent your chosen class with sugary snacks?
