Destiny PC version not ruled out: “We have a lot of appetite to build that experience”

Unsurprisingly, we thought Bungie was being very silly when they only announced their cross-platform open-world shooter for consoles. We’re a little biased, mind. So the news that the Halo developer is considering a PC version has had us take down the length of scorched bungee cord that we’ve had unceremoniously nailed to the walls to the PCGamesN offices since that first Destiny reveal. The one where they said nobody plays shooters with mouse and keyboard post-Halo, “’cause nobody wants to”.

Speaking to IGN, Bungie’s senior writer and head of community Eric Osborne said “We haven’t said yes, and we haven’t said no. The more platforms we take on, the more work it ultimately becomes, and what we don’t want is to compromise the core experience on any platforms. We have a lot of people who play on PCs. We have a lot of appetite to build that experience. We haven’t announced it yet, but we’re looking forward to talking more about that kind of stuff in the future.”

It’s far from a confirmation – it’s not even that promising a statement – but it’s something.

Considering the game’s Mass Effect/Star Wars aesthetic I’d love to see Destiny make its way to PC and from the sounds that came out of the reveal event, the game appears to be a little like CCP’s Dust, only by a developer with experience of making FPSs. Really good ones.

There was a CGI trailer for Destiny released during the week that looks quite pretty, it’s even got that fellow from Breaking Bad in it and it was directed by Jon Favreau:

Good to see Activision are putting game development money in all the right places.

Note this though Bungie, we can nail that cord back up at the drop of a hat.
