As well as infecting and corrupting children's minds, games are even finding their way into legitimate award ceremonies: where will this madness end? With games a respected cultural medium? Not if I have anything to say about it.
Yup, the exceedingly well produced Diablo 3 score has tricked its way through to the nominee list for the Hollywood Music in Media Award, HMMA (pronounced: Hmm-ah).
Gosugamers spotted this one, it's been nominated in the category of "ORIGINAL SCORE - VIDEO GAME", we're assuming it implies "best", else all the nominees are winners, surely. Those other nominees are, according to Hmm-ah's website:
Austin Wintory - Journey (Sony)
Cris Velasco, Sascha Dikiciyan, Christopher Lennertz, Sam Hulick, Clint Mansell - Mass Effect 3 (BioWare/EA)
Gerard Marino - The Amazing Spiderman (Sony)
Grant Kirkhope - Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (38 Studios/Big Huge Games)
Jeff Broadbent - I Am Alive (Ubisoft)
Jeremy Soule - Skyrim (Bethesda)
Jesper Kyd - Darksiders 2 (Vigil/THQ)
Russell Brower, Derek Duke, Glenn Stafford, Joseph Lawrence , Neal Acree, Laurence Juber & Edo Guidotti - Diablo 3 (Blizzard Entertainment)
Ryan Shore - Spy Hunter (Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment)
Stephen Rippy - Castleville (Zynga)
Quite the eclectic list.
