DICE went on a fieldtrip to Hoth to make Star Wars Battlefront as faithful as possible

Star Wars Battlefront

DICE are dedicated to Battlefront. They know that the series is beloved, and the people making it are as big Star Wars fans as you and I. That’s why they’ve not only been studying LucasFilm’s vast collection of movie props, but actually going on field trips to the planets themselves.

Well, not quite. But they have visited the filming locations of places like Hoth and Endor to ensure the feel of these maps will be as accurate as possible.

The renders of these areas look spectacular, from the foliage on the floor of Endor’s forests to the powdery snow caught on the breeze at Hoth. Whilst the footage is early, DICE’s aim to capture the feel of Star Wars is a mission already completed. Laser blasts strike the landscape and cause that terrific smoke plume that is so iconic of Star Wars’ practical film effects.

“Star Wars belongs to everyone who loves this amazing universe” say DICE. It’s clear from this glimpse that the studio love Star Wars, and hopefully the final game will prove they own it, too.
