With the Frankfurt Major Grand Finals underway right now, Valve have just announced plans for the next big Dota 2 tournament.
Dota 2’s next Major will take place in Shanghai between March 2-6, 2016, in the Mercedes Benz Arena, formerly known as the Shanghai World Expo Cultural Center.
The venue seats 18,000 people, which is more than the 13,500 the Frankfurt Major’s venue supports.
While no prize pool has been announced, the Frankfurt Major’s is $3m, so expect a similar amount.
With Chinese teams underperforming in Frankfurt, it will be interesting to see if they make a comeback on their home turf in the winter.
Now it’s time for them to lick their wounds and regroup, making tweaks to the teams in time for their next attempt at glory in Dota’s new tradition.
