Dota 2 International Western Qualifier results are in: Mousesports are going to Seattle

German eSports mammoths Mousesports secured their place in the final of Valve’s annual Dota tournament in a 3-1 victory over dd.Dota last night. They’ll have a shot at The International 3’s prize pool, now the largest ever for a single event.

It was all over in record time. dd.Dota called ‘gg’ 23 minutes into the first game and 36 minutes into the second, granting Mousesports an early lead. Their French opponents did manage to secure a victory of their own in the third round, but a sustained comeback was not to be – mousesports took the fourth game and the Western title within 42 minutes.

Mousesports have earned their place as one of the top sixteen teams to compete the Seattle final on August 7-11. dd.Dota, meanwhile, will fight for a Wild Card spot against the TBD runners-up of the International’s Eastern qualifiers, the first stages of which begin today.

“Nothing is over yet guys,” said dd on their Facebook page. “The dream is still existing – we will practice hard to not disappoint you and ourself.”

“Our Dota2 Team did it!!!,” wrote Mousesports management in the aftermath. “They won The International West Qualifier with a 3-1 over DD and secured the direct slot for THE Dota tournament of the year in Seattle.

“Really well played guys! UMGEPUMPT!”

I fed that latter remark through the always-reliable Google Translate:“VICE PUMPS”, apparently. To those of you who saw the match: is that a fitting assessment?
