Dota 2 update prepares guild system and tutorial for launch

Dota2_TutorialMap

Time to make more friends: in this weeks Dota 2 update Valve have implemented the guild system, allowing you and your friends to form one big community. Also in is the final implementation of the tutorial system, which will be required to be completed before accessing the rest of the game. The only problem: both of these features are not fully functioning, put off until next weeks update.

There’s always the cosmetics and bug fixes, right?

The guild system will allow for big communities to converse and find matches together. In the future this will be expanded with a guild match history and weekly leaderboards to show who’s boss. You’ll have a set number of guild slots available, as well as the ability to create your own. Take note that these are different from teams, which are limited to five players for competitive stuff.

Next up is the tutorial system, something we’ve already had a taste of. It aims to gently introduce new players to the magic ways of the MOBA genre. Players will travel around the fictional Dota world and complete quests, each tailored to teaching a specific skill. Here’s a list of the locations:

Location 1The Dragon Knight Tutorial

Location 2 – Tidehunter gets peep’d by Sniper

Location 3 – Mid-lane 1v1 Tier 1 Tower Fight

Location 4 – mid1v1_tutorial

Location 5 – Bot Practice Match

Location 6 – Limited Hero Pool Game

It’s also been revealed that new players will need to complete the first two locations before they can have access to the entirety of Dota 2.

Check out the cosmetic additions over on Cyborgmatt’s blog, and check the patch notes below:
