Dreamhack is on right now. You should watch it

Dreamhack

It’s the weekend! What better way to spend your precious days of freedom than to coup yourself up in your room and watch people play video games. Dreamhack is in full swing with all the best games: Starcraft 2, Dota 2, League of Legends, Counter Strike, and even some Super Street Fighter IV if you fancy that. You can go outside, but only if it’s to get some beer or something.

You’re lazy I know, so let me break the whole thing down:

Starcraft 2: Go here and pick your language. The Dreamhack Open is featuring some of the best Starcraft 2 players around. We’ve got the likes of EG’s Thorzain and HuK, Tefel from Team Dignitas and NaNiwa representing Alliance. There’s a ton more players, but all you need to know is that they can click a mouse really fast and make entertainment happen.

Dota 2: Go here and pick your favourite native caster. Boasting the biggest prize pool (300,000 SEK) of the entire event, you could say it’s “balling out of control”. Teams include Natus Vincere, Evil Geniuses, Team Dignitas, Alliance, Mousesports and Team Liquid. This is about as close as we will get to a taste of what The International will hold for our European teams. I’m rooting for Alliance and their crazy strategies.

League of Legends: Go here for the livestream. Eight teams will battle it out for the top prize, four of which will be coming from Bring Your Own Computer qualifiers. It’s quite plausible that we could see a BYOC team rise through the ranks and steal first place. I’ve recently started playing League of Legends myself, it’s rather good.

Counter Strike: Go here for the streams. I’ll be honest, I don’t play much Counter Strike since the good old days of source and 1.6. If you want to go watch people shoot each other with god like reactions, this is the game for you.
