Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has baseball, so you can live out your fantasy of, er, being Yamcha

Finally, a chance for DBZ's true hero to shine

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has been billed a nostalgic return to the series’ most iconic arcs ever since the earliest teasers, but we’ve spent a lot of that time wondering exactly how much of DBZ the game would cover. The answer seems to be ‘basically everything.’ We’ve recently gotten teases of of the Great Saiyaman and Majin Buu, and now it looks like even the filler is accounted for.

Kakarot will have a baseball minigame, which will let you take a super-powered martial artist to the diamond and try to hit a ball out of the atmosphere. While lord Yamcha would’ve been the obvious choice to feature in this game, it appears this minigame is based on Gohan’s high school days, where he repeatedly fails to keep his ridiculous strength a secret to classmates.

Judging by the 20k mile homer we see in the screenshots, that attempt at cover won’t work too well in Kakarot, either. I can only hope this extends into a full Persona-style mini-campaign during Gohan’s education – and that Yamcha gets his own time to shine on the field.

Yamcha is a pro, after all, and the Taitans deserve recognition.

Check out the minigame in the screens above.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available for early purchase on Steam. The full game will be available on January 16, 2020.
