What are Harpysnare Smoke Beacons in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Where to find Dragon’s Dogma 2 Harpysnare Smoke Beacons

Harpysnare Smoke Beacons aren’t unique, hard-to-find items; however, they’re not plentiful, either. Like most items in the game, you can find them in chests out in the overworld or purchase them from a traveling vendor. In many, many hours of play, however, we’ve only seen them sold by a vendor twice, once near the coastal village of Harve and again after entering the Battahl region. It’s important to note that they weren’t present when we returned later on, so this could be a random event. That said, near areas where a Harpysnare Smoke Beacon is required are often hidden chests with one inside it – how convenient!

How to use Dragon’s Dogma 2 Harpysnare Smoke Beacons

You can use a Harpysnare Smoke Beacon at just about any time outside of combat to summon a harpy to you. Simply open up your inventory and select ‘use.’ The summoned harpy will not attack you or your Pawns; rather, it will instead float around the Smoke Beacon until you grab on to it to go for a ride.

To grab on to a harpy, jump and hold the grab button (R2/RB on controller or E on keyboard) to latch onto it. You can now control the direction it flies in. You can only fly for as long as you have stamina, so consider stocking up on stamina curative items before your flight.

However, it’s prudent not to waste Harpysnare Smoke Beacons as there’s quite a few locations where they’re required to reach far off treasure. Earlier in the game, this item will be most useful to fly from watch towers surrounding the city of Vernworth. All of them have harpies flying around at the top, and once they’re defeated, you can take a look around to see treasure chests high up on cliffs. Use Harpysnare Smoke Beacons to reach those.

Otherwise, you can use them to cross rivers and the like. Try to use the Smoke Beacon from up high as it does not lift your Arisen off the ground much.
