EA say their online play and matchmaking systems are offline; Battlefield 3 says otherwise

Hmm. EA have thrown their hands up and declared a big whoopsy – their systems which handle online multiplayer, matchmaking, and player login are currently offline across every single one of their games.

They’re “working hard to fix things”, but haven’t divulged any estimates as to when the lights will come back on. It seems like a bit of a mess over there.

Over here, though, things seem to be just fine.

Just now I was able to log into Origin with no trouble, boot up Battlefield 3, be matchmade via its ‘Quick Play’ function, and be shot three times by the same German man. I didn’t stick around long enough to test whether I’d be dropped from the match, as EA have suggested might be the case – but if killing is Battlefield’s business, it appears to be business as usual.

“We apologize for the interruption and thank you for your patience while we fix the problem,” write EA.

The publisher warns that its websites are likely to be down too – though again, I’ve yet to discover one that actually is.

Of course, you lot might be faring rather differently. Are you struggling to log onto an EA game or one of your favourite official websites? Let us know in the comments.

Thanks, OXM.
