Euro Truck Simulator 2 to receive Oculus Rift support

Simulation in Euro Truck Simulator 2 is about to get a whole lot more simulate…y, SCS Software are working on integrating virtual reality headsets like the Oculus Rift into their game about trucking. Soon you’ll be able to look freely about the inside of the truck cab, physically nod at passing motorists, and fall asleep behind the wheel by actually falling asleep behind the wheel.

SCS don’t reveal many, well, any details about when we can expect to see the update they’ve been working on released. Instead, the blog post announcing their work has the above screenshot and says that “Looking around the cabin freely is incredible, it almost feels like being in there!”

It would be easy to try and knock the idea of sitting in a virtual truck cab to get your entertainment but, if truck driving is your thing, I can imagine the idea of adding this level of immersion to a simulation would be an awesome prospect.

When SCS announce a date for the Oculus support update we’ll let you know.
