Eve Online now has 450,000 subscribers; Chinese relaunch a success

450,000! That’s plenty, really. Ample subscriptions. If I was CEO of CCP, I’d be assigning nothing but back pats and lie downs ‘til Christmas.

The very recent launch of 18th Eve expansion Retribution helped somewhat, of course, but a not insignificant number of Eve’s newest subscribers are the beneficiaries of its recent relaunch in China. In its first week on sale, subscriptions have “surpassed expectations”, say CCP.

“I can’t think of a better way to kick off our celebration of our tenth anniversary than bringing a new era of EVE Online to mainland China, and I welcome them into the world of New Eden as we enter into our second decade of growth and prosperity for EVE,” said CCP boss Hilmar Veigar Pétursson. Bit thousand-year-reigny, Hilmar, but congrats nonetheless.

“Because of the tremendous effort of the team at CCP, we can proudly say that EVE Online has grown every year since its launch in 2003,” Pétursson added.

Have you picked up Eve again post-Retribution? Are you one of the 450,000?
