F1 2013 is out now; here’s our F1 2013 review.
Codemasters don’t half make some sexy looking car games. Today they’ve announced that they’re working on F1 2013 (surprise!) and have given us a sultry trailer showing off just enough of some Formula 1 cars to get your petrol flowing. But these aren’t just any F1 cars. Oh no, these are classics. As in older, more experienced. Yeah.
F1 2013 is introducing Classic Mode, which will allow you to take to the wheel of a variety of machines built through four eras of the sport, including the glory years of the 1980s. These classic races will be introduced by none other than Murray Walker, the legendary and irreplaceable commentator. Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Emerson Fittipaldi and Gerhard Berger are named as drivers who you’ll be going up against. I expect it’s inevitable that Senna will be added to the list before long.
The other two trailers released today focus on the contemporary side of F1, with in-game footage from the UK’s Silverstone circuit and the Nurburgring. Confirmed teams and drivers here would be Jenson Button for Vodafone McLaren and Kimi Raikkonen for Lotus, and as typical for a Codemasters racer, the game looks better than actual real-life footage. Check out the glossy shine on that paintwork.
Codemasters don’t have a date beyond ‘coming soon’, so keep an eye on the F1 2013 Twitter feed.
