Fallout 4 Automatron DLC coming March 22; promises junkyard robot wars

Fallout 4 Automatron

Much of Fallout 4’s main thrust is devoted to the rights of the synthetic humans that haunt and confuse the Commonwealth. But what of their scrappier, more haphazard robotic brethren? These are the focal point of Automatron, the first bite of DLC offered up by Bethesda.

Bethesda’s latest is already a hotbed for player creations; here are the best Fallout 4 settlements.

A shadowy Mechanist has built a horde of robots and set their protocols to ‘terrorise’. It’s the vault dweller’s job to hunt them down all over the Commonwealth, harvesting their parts and piecing together robotic companions. Construction is a modular affair, in which we’ll mix and match limbs, armour, abilities, weapons and, most importantly, voice settings.

Automatron will be available on March 22 for £7.99, though you’ll need to be level 15 or higher to access it. After that, we’re expecting the settlement-boosting Wasteland Workshop in April, and ginormous Maine island Far Harbor in May. Free updates will come in the form of a rejigged survival mode and Creation Kit for mods.

Do you think you’ll be reaching for the soldering iron, or waiting for more substantial DLC?
