Ubisoft already employ a vast array of studios to work across all of their games, as you probably already know if you’ve sat through any of their credit sequences. Now there’s one more to add to the list, as Ubisoft Berlin will begin work on the company’s big brands starting in early 2018.
Find out how Far Cry 5 will shake up the Ubisoft open world formula.
The first series the new studio will be working on is Far Cry, and they’ll be doing so in collaboration with other Ubisoft developers. In other words, Ubisoft will be continuing to do development as they have for years.
It’s possible Ubisoft Berlin will be working on a brand new game in the Far Cry franchise, but given the development schedule it seems likely that they’ll be starting with DLC for Far Cry 5. (I’ll be crossing my fingers for something in the vein of Blood Dragon.)
Ubisoft Berlin will be headed up by Istvan Tanjay, who has been with Ubisoft Blue Byte – who make up most of Ubisoft’s German division – for five years. Tanjay tells GamesIndustry.biz that the studio will be looking to build a team of around 50 developers. Some of those positions are currently listed online.
