Firefall open beta weekend announced via trailer. Warning: contains spider-like aliens

There’s something balletic about the way the characters in the new Firefall trailer skim through the air in slow-motion. Granted, I’ve never seen ballet dancers armed with mini-guns spewing out rounds into spider aliens faster than the eye can follow but I’m definitely not opposed to the idea.

The trailer below is announcing an open beta weekend starting this Friday, the 22 February. If that was the information you were looking for then DO NOT CLICK BELOW THE BREAK. If space alien ballet intrigues you then click below the break.

I’ve still not had a chance to get my hands on Firefall, only gathering information from trailers and previews, however that’s all looked extremely promising. Certainly the game seems to have potential. It just seems to be a little empty of late, with not a great many different world events for the players to jump in on. The main thing to do seems to be setting up resource-extracting thumpers and then protecting them from the attracted alien horde, hoping that you’ll be joined by other players.

Though, this open beta weekend is obviously a great chance to see how the game is coming along.

You can sign up for the beta over here.
