Stalled on the start line: download issues hamper Forza Horizon 3 pre-loading

Forza Horizon 3 PC review

There can be few things more frustrating in the world than watching a download bar crawl along, seemingly not moving. Even with high speed broadband, attempting to download a big, blockbuster PC release can be a mammoth undertaking, especially if said download keeps resetting.

If you hadn’t guessed already, that’s exactly what reports suggest is happening to those attempting to pre-load the now much anticipated Forza Horizon 3.

With the game picking up rave reviews across the net, demand looks to be picking up. It’s not good news, therefore, that many people are apparently seeing their downloads reset mid-way. No laughing matter considering the game ways in at a near 50GB.

Indeed, for those who have paid a pretty penny for the Ultimate Edition – which grants them access to the game four days early – this is no laughing matter.

What’s more, this is no universal complaint. Some users are claiming their progress is erased if they try to resume a paused download, whereas others lose their progress completely just as the download nears completion.

Plenty are managing to download the game successfully, of course, but for those facing issues, a solution doesn’t seem to be forthcoming. The only acknowledgement to date is a post from a Turn 10 staffer on the official Forza forums claiming the errors are being looked into. (Interesting in itself, given Playground Games rather than Turn 10 is the lead studio on Horizon.)
