Fractured Lands is Mad Max meets PUBG, from ex-COD and Battlefield devs

Fractured Lands

Fractured Lands, a new first-person battle royale from a team of senior developers who worked on the Battlefield, Medal of Honor, and Call of Duty series, will release on Steam Early Access this summer.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Fractured Lands’s concept will be recognisable to fans of the battle royale genre. At the beginning of each match, you will have to scavenge for weapons and powerups, all while steering clear (or eliminating) other players. Meanwhile, an ever-closing storm will corral the survivors together until only one remains.

Fractured Lands is looking for its slice of the pie, but which is the best battle royale game?

The major break from tradition, however, is Fractured Lands’ vehicles. You can traverse the game’s open planes in rides that can be upgraded with spiked bumpers, nitrous boosts, and extra inventory slots (and, of course, can be used to run down enemies who have found themselves without their cars). It all lends a distinct, and very deliberate, Mad Max vibe to the whole affair, something which is only compounded by the game’s post-apocalyptic aesthetic and desert setting.

You can check out a trailer for Fractured Lands below, showing off a bleak-looking world as well as exactly what happens when an apocalyptic death-mobile meets some squishy human flesh.

Fractured Lands is due to release into Early Access later this summer, but head to Fractured-Lands.com if you fancy checking it out early – developer Unbroken Studios is running three closed betas across the weekends of June 8, 22, and 29.
