GTA Online event offers Time Trial pack and price cuts on speedy vehicles

GTA Online's new time trials

Like driving fast and fed up of thrashing your car about in that abandoned parking lot down the road? GTA V’s latest online event is designed to test just how speedy you are, charging players with completing set time trials in freemode.

Having kicked off yesterday and running through to May 12, a total of seven different trials can be taken on, with double rewards on offer even if you’ve completed them before.

As a handy carrot on the stick, the kind folks at Rockstar have also unlocked five of GTA V’s fastest vehicles at half price to help you post the best times, including three cars and two motorcycles. The T20, Zentorno, Pegassi Osiris, Hakuchou, and Akuma are all available.

The six remaining time trials include:

  • Saturday May 7 – Down Chiliad
  • Sunday May 8 – Mount Gordo
  • Monday May 9 – Great Ocean Highway
  • Tuesday May 10 – Sawmill
  • Wednesday May 11 – Maze Bank Arena
  • Thursday May 12 – End to End

Without wishing to sound like a dodgy sofa commercial, it doesn’t end there, either. As well as the daily time trials and half price cars and bikes, players can save money this week by picking up specific vehicle mods, with engines, breaks and suspension all coming with 30 percent off. All of Lester’s services are also available for free while the event is running.

“There’s also Double RP to be gained in this week’s Playlist on Land Races, with Bike-focused Touch Base (racing from the Galileo Observatory to Fort Zancudo), Sports-geared On the GOH (taking on the Great Ocean Highway) and Off-roading in Turn the Tide (from the Great Ocean Highway to Paleto Cove),” revealed Rockstar on its Newswire blog.

“Simply hit the prompt button in the GTAV launch screens to jump straight into the racing action, or if you’re in-game already, you can find the Playlist in the Rockstar Playlists section of the GTA Online pause menus.”
