ArenaNet’s debut living world update for 2014 will start with the end of a year long storyline. Coming on the 21st of January, the update promises powerful new adversaries at the command of arch-villain Scarlet Briar. Players will face against the Twisted Marionette, a gigantic robotic weapon that can only be defied by a warband of players. The Great Jungle Wurm is a secondary but equally dangerous foe which was unearthed by Scarlett’s mechanical minions. Being a huge multi-headed creature, it will require a massive calculated response to deal with it.

The update seems to be setting in motion a chain of events that will end Scarlet’s meddlesome ways, culminating in a spectacular finale if ArenaNet’s quotes are anything to go by. It does leave you wondering though, why Scarlet is doing all this. She must have a motive, and the not-so-friendly sounding narrator of the teaser seems to be important.
If I were to take an educated guess, I would say we might be seeing Primordius sometime soon.
