The H1Z1: King of the Kill combat update makes it feel a lot more like PUBG

H1Z1 King of the Kill

H1Z1: King of the Kill is revamping its combat, with a new weapon, improved gunplay, and a new Skirmish mode. The changes are part of the new Combat Update, designed to intensify the game while improving many of its systems.

Check out our list of the best survival games on PC.

The update’s most important change is to King of the Kill’s weaponry, all of which is being reworked to help each gun feel unique, as well as being “modernized” to help improve recoil, precision, and animations. These changes are being complimented by improvements to the game’s camera and better navigation.

The map has also been improved “to increase variety in fights.” Five new points of interest, including a shopping centre and a fairground, have been added to the map. While it’s not made entirely clear, I’d assume that these will be full of items to help increase the game’s intensity.

The update will also see the addition of a new Skirmish mode. Weapon Roulette will spawn everyone onto the map holding a randomised weapon with infinite ammo, but no other weapons will spawn. At certain population thresholds, your weapon will be randomly replaced, and the amount of ammo you have available will be randomised again.

There are a lot of extra things added to the update as well. Most notable is a new gun, the Hellfire 4-6 submachine gun, which was designed for close-quarter fights. There are also improved bleed animations, better throwing mechanics, and the ability to shred footwear. The combat update is part of H1Z1 general manager Anthony Castoro’s attempt to fully realise the game’s vision, which you can read more about here.
