Halo Wars 2

Dan Ayoub, studio head of 343 Industries, announced today that Halo Wars 2 has gone gold.

For all your scheming needs, check out our list of the best strategy games on PC.

Here’s Ayoub’s announcement:

This means development on the game is finished, so there should be no last minute delays and the game will make its current release date of February 21.

The original Halo Wars released in 2009 and was exclusive to the Xbox 360. It was arguably the most successful attempt yet to make real-time strategy games work on console – not that we need to worry about that – and happily the sequel will come to PC as part of Microsoft’s Play Anywhere scheme. This time around, PC strategy masters Creative Assembly have also lent their hand to Halo custodians 343 Industries, so the talent behind the game is looking good.

According to the Halo Wars 2 website, the game promises a “brutal war against a terrifying new enemy” – click here to learn who– “on the biggest Halo battlefield ever.” If you opt for the game’s Ultimate Edition, you’ll also get access to the Definitive Edition of the original – a rare opportunity to play it on PC.
