The inarguably successful experiment that was Hitman’s episodic year is coming to a close on October 31. Episode six, Hokkaido, finishes off the story with a mission called Situs Inversus. For Latin / medicine fans, that’s a rare condition where the organs in the body have flipped sides, usually leading to some fairly serious health problems because, y’know, that stuff isn’t meant to be there. For Agent 47 and Hitman players, however, it’s the “culmination of everything they’ve learnt in terms of both gameplay and story.”
Can’t wait? Some excellent sandbox games to keep you happy.
Based on the above teaser trailer, you’ll be dealing with everything from deadly doctors to wooden walls and super computers once you arrive in Japan. Here’s the official description:
“The Hokkaido location is set within the grounds of the hyper-exclusive GAMA private hospital and resort. This secluded facility is a fusion of Japanese beauty and cutting-edge technology, featuring its own Zen gardens, organic sushi restaurant and traditional Japanese hot spring.”
You’re there after a pair of targets, presumably the masterminds between the web of conspiracy that has formed the plot of the season. Marking the end of the season, the full game will then be available to purchase as one package, but Hannes Seifert, studio head at Io-Interactive, says this is “only the beginning” for the game’s wider universe and ongoing live content plan. Obviously, that means Hokkaido will come with its own raft of elusive target locations, weapons, suits and more.
Speaking of which, Elusive Target 11 kicks off on Friday at 5am PDT / 2pm CEST. It’s up for five days, sending you after ‘The Fixer’ of Marrakesh. Doubtlessly there’ll be more details on launch day, including a quick trailer, but as usual you’ll get one shot at it and it’s gone forever if you fail.
