Hitman’s first two missions are now free

HITMAN

Io Interactive are now a fully independent studio, and they’ve made a deal with their ex-publishers, Square Enix, to retain the rights to Hitman. Their first big move as masters of their own destiny has been to make the first section of their game free.

“I’m proud to announce that our first hello as an independent studio is to invite all gamers to play the beginning of Hitman for free,” Io CEO Hakan Abrak says. “There is a lot of love out there for Hitman and with this offering we hope that many more will fall in love with the game. We believe that this is Hitman at its best. So jump in and give a try.”

Players will get access to the first two tutorial levels, which see Agent 47 taking out targets in a jury-rigged training facility. One takes you to a boat party, while the other has you murdering military targets in a hangar. There are over 40 challenges to tackle across the missions.

If you decide to buy the full game – thus unlocking one of the best Hitman missions ever, Sapienza – you’ll be able to carry all your progress across with you. There’s a 60% off promotion happening now if you want to dive in, too.
