Homeworld: Cataclysm has a new name on GOG because of Blizzard trademarks

Homeworld Emergence

GOG now has an exclusive version of Homeworld: Cataclysm… though it’s the exact same game as before. Homeworld: Emergence is now live on the store, but don’t expect it to have any new features, despite its catchy new name.

If you like playing good old games, click that there link.

You see, the word “Cataclysm” is a registered trademark of Blizzard now, so the developers of Homeworld have been forced to change their game’s subtitle to prevent confusion.

Despite the new name, it’s identical to the game released in 2000, casting players as human colonists awakening from cryosleep to find a new home. While trying to find that new home, the humans come across a race of aliens hellbent on wiping out the universe, so they try to stop them via strategic encounters across these alien worlds.

The entire Homeworld trilogy is now on sale on GOG,including the latest, Deserts of Kharak.
