How to get SimCity running in fullscreen windowed mode

If you’re a fan of both Maxis’ new curvy road builder and rapidly alt-tabbing between it and your other favourite thing, you’ll have been terribly disappointed to discover that the two have, at some point in development, become mutually exclusive. There is no full-screen window mode in SimCity. Thankfully, the Steam community is on hand with third-party apps and detailed instructions.

Hellstrong’s app is designed to work with any and all PC games that fail to support borderless windowed modes, and has been tested using some 56 games listed here.

To get the game running in a full-screen window, you’ll want to start up the app, load up SimCity and set the game to run in windowed mode. After that, click the app’s tray icon and select ‘Add window’.

From there, you can return to the game and activate fullscreen windowed mode by tapping F3. And you’ll only have to do it once – henceforth, the little app who could will remember your settings the next time you boot up the game.
