In an effort to help jumpstart launch projects for the HTC Vive, Valve have announced that they plan to giveaway the virtual reality headset for free to qualified developers. Developers “big or small” according to Valve’s Doug Lombardi – a site for developers to sign-up is to go live sometime next week.
Speaking to Ars Technica, Doug Lombardi said that the Developer Edition kit will be “free, at least initially”. This is ahead of a targeted 2015 launch for the consumer version of the device.
