Campo Santo’s next game is In the Valley of the Gods – it’s Firewatch in 1920’s Egypt

The first major reveal of The Game Awards is the next game from Campo Santo, the makers of Firewatch. In the Valley of the Gods looks to be another stylish narrative adventure, this time set in an old-school pulpy desert expedition.

For more of the little bit different, here are our favourite indie games.

The trailer features two characters diving deep into the ruins of an Egyptian fortress, and unlike with Firewatch you can actually see the face of your partner. At the end of the road, the pair record an Indiana Jones-style trick of sunlight and ingenious ancient construction.

Via the official FAQ, it’s set in the 1920s to get rid of all those pesky cell phones, and you’re there to make a film. Campo Santo say that it’s not related to Firewatch in any way, but “if you enjoy well-told and well-acted dynamic video game stories, or you just really liked Firewatch, this game is for you.”

It’s in Unity and coming to Windows, Mac, and Linux. It could make it to console too if you like that sort of thing, and no doubt the Nintendo crowd would love it on the Switch as they do all video games. Campo will share more details over on their development blogwhile we head towards the 2019 release date.
