Don’t Starve closed beta begins; lets some of us try out Minecraft through the eyes of Tim Burton

“You play as Wilson, an intrepid Gentleman Scientist who has been trapped by a demon and transported to a mysterious wilderness world. Wilson must learn to exploit his environment and its inhabitants if he ever hopes to escape and find his way back home.”

If that’s not sold you on Don’t Starve then you better read on after the break.

I’d love to embed the trailer for you all to see, but for that you’ll have to pop over here. In its absence I give you this neat method of opening a can without a can opener:

If you didn’t click through to that other link, Don’t Starve is a cross of Notch’s Minecraft and Tim Burton’s… brain. It puts you in the little cartoon shoes of gentleman scientist Wilson in a survival game involving large spiders, magic, and science. The game’s being developed by Klei Entertainment, them what made Shank and Shank 2.

If you’re interested in learning more/ getting in on that beta you’ll have to head over to the game’s site and pick up a copy of the game for $7.
