A point’n’click adventure centered around a young girl’s fight against a flock of birds under the hypnotic spell of one Baron Widebeard, Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet! fills all the criteria for an insta-post on PCGamesN. That there are beards, puns, and jokes in the pitch video only works to seal the deal.
Following on from the Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! AGS adventure released back in 2007, The Fowl Fleet! would be a full-fledged game expanding on the world and characters that were created by developer Alasdair Beckett-King. The difference in quality between the original game’s artwork and that on display in the sequel’s pitch video should indicate something of the jump that can be expected between the two games.
Beckett-King’s looking for £15,000 to fund the rest of The Fowl Fleet!’s development, having already completing most of pre-production with his own funds. He’s already a third of the way there, with more than £5,000 in the bag.
According to the Kickstarter page, 45 characters and 35 locations are completed. The money from the Kickstarter would be directed to “add interactivity to all those locations, to animate and give voices to those characters, and to create a rich and atmospheric musical score.”
Should The Fowl Fleet! find its funding Beckett-King is aiming for a June 2014 release.
